- Steve Andersson, MA 1989 , for the past six years has been the principal at Grandview heights High School in Columbus, OH. This month, Grandview Heights was named a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education, one of only 18 schools in Ohio and one of 287 schools nationwide. - Christina Clark, Ph. D. 1995, is currently spending the year in Rome with her husband and small daughter. She has an article forthcoming in Classical Philology, entitled "The Poetics of Manhood? Nonverbal Behavior in Catullus 51" and a piece called "Tears in Lucretius" for a book edited by Thorsten Fogen, Tears and Crying in Graeco-Roman Antiquity. She will be considered for promotion to Associate Professor at Creighton University next fall. (web:041807)
- Jennifer Larson, Ph. D. 1992, has written a new book, Ancient Greek Cults: A Guide. It is an updated and concise alternative to Farnell's classics Cults of the Greek States an will be published by Routledge in June 2007. (web:041807)
- Jennifer A. Rea, Ph. D. 1999, has been an assistant professor of Classics at the University of Florida since August, 2001. In
addition to teaching in Rome on the University of Florida's study abroad program, she has been doing a bit of travel around the US. At
the invitation of the University of Mississippi, Stetson University,and Rollins College, Jennifer has given talks on topics ranging from
astrology in the Augustan Age to human sacrifice. Her recent publications include articles on Petronius and Latin Pedagogy. Her first book, Legendary Rome, is forthcoming from Duckworth in 2007. (web:033007)
- Alexandra Pappas, Ph. D. 1994, has settled happily in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she is just finishing the first year of
her new tenure-track job at the University of Arkansas. Warm and welcoming students and colleagues have made her transition easy. She
presented an invited paper this past fall at the "Visible Writings" conference at Rutgers University. This spring, she delivered an APA
paper in San Diego, "Describing Inscriptions: Euripides, Agathon, and the Politics of Ekphrasis" Yet another paper awaits publication,
"Remember to Cry Wolf: Visual and Verbal Declarations of Lykos Kalos." Professor Pappas is also eagerly anticipating her marriage to
UW-Classics alumnus Jeff Gringas this coming July. (web:032907)
- Julie M. Nishimura-Jensen, Ph. D. 1996, was hired as the Director of Post-Baccalaureate Program in Classical Studies at the
University of Pennsylvania in Fall 2006. She advises about 30 post-bac students as well as teaches language seminars and beginning Greek to
many undergraduates. Julie says that "after being an adjunct at Penn and Haverford for the past 7 years, it is great to have a more
permanent position with more responsibility, and the position is a really good fit for me. It also comes at a good time in my life, since
my younger son started kindergarten this year." (web032207)
- Joe Goodkin, B.A. 1998, is currently making use of his Classics degree by performing a modern folk opera interpretation of Homer's Odyssey for high school students. He has performed the piece at UW twice in the last two years, at the invitation of the Classics Club, as well as for numerous high school audiences. Click

- Robert Greene, 1978, a recipient of the Gertrude Slaughter Scholarship, is a writer, currently working on his third book, published by
Viking/Penguin. His first book, The 48 Laws of Power, is an international bestseller. His second book, The Art of Seduction, just came out in paperback. His third book, which is about war and strategy, will be out in about 18 months.
